ARCHITECTURE TECHNOLOGY (661)

Diploma in Architecture, also known as building engineering or architecture engineering, is an engineering discipline that deals with the technological aspects and multi-disciplinary approach to planning, design, construction, and operation of buildings, such as analysis and integrated design of environmental systems (energy conservation, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, fire protection, acoustics, vertical and horizontal transportation), structural systems, behavior and properties of building components and materials, and construction management.

Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) offers four years Diploma in Architecture Technology in their Engineering Discipline through their affiliated polytechnic institutes. Therefore we are also creating education materials for the course.

The Diploma in Architecture curriculum has been designed to develop critical thinking, communication and analytical skills among students. The courses focus on architecture design, building construction, history & heritage, environment and technical aspects of architecture.

Graduates of this discipline are absorbed in the profession and in universities for higher education at the national and international level. This course aims to train students through knowledge and skill based creative environment. The design studio is a skill based laboratory to develop critical thinking among the students.

The architecture program approaches design with an understanding of contemporary issues and debates in architecture. The institutional environment is conducive to learning and creativity. The department provides teaching and learning with the aid of a well-equipped computer lab.

Most faculty members are practicing architects who enrich their academic discourse with their practical experience. Esteemed architects and planners are invited to deliver lectures on modern trend in architectural advancement.

Job Opportunities:

The demand of the job market of architecture diploma graduates depends on the development of the country. A big portion of the annual budget of the country is utilized for infrastructure development. The main public organizations like Department of Architecture, RAJUK, PWD, LGED, Roads & High ways, BPDB, BWDB, Railways and WASA through which the development works are performed where many architecture diploma engineers are recruited every year.

Real estate companies are another big sector where many diploma architecture graduates are working. Architecture diploma graduates having proficiency in CAD and 3-D Modeling software, and appropriate graphic packages for architects have high demand in the architectural firms. The architect graduates prefer to run his or her own business rather than working under someone.
